Am I personally identifiable?

The data we collect is anonymous. We do not capture your license ID, or information that could allow us to identify you personally and we do not store your IP address. Instead, a random machine ID is created and bundled with the metric/diagnostic data so we can group records by device.

Is my project content collected?

No. Your project or associated assets are not collected at any stage.

What is collected?

We collect information about errors that occur during Notch use and information about the features that are used within Notch. We also capture basic system information that allows us to better diagnose issues, such as operating system version, driver version and GPU make and model.

How much data is sent?

A typical diagnostic and usage data package is less than five kilobytes.

Why is this data needed?

We use this data to help us find errors that occur during normal usage of Notch Builder. It is not uncommon for our users to work on different hardware configurations that can produce issues we are unable to replicate in our test lab. Getting this diagnostic data and the associated errors are incredibly useful when trying to fix user issues and find bugs in the software, which enables us to make the software even more performant and stable.

We also use the usage data to help inform the development roadmap, including identifying the areas of the product that can benefit from accelerated development.

Disabling this feature

To disable the anonymous diagnostic data collection, go to File > Preferences inside of Notch Builder and untick the setting labelled “Send anonymous software diagnostic data to Notch to help improve the product.”
