BOSS ONE X DAVID BECKHAM AT LIGHTROOM, LONDON

immersive-me brought their eye for real-time visuals to MBC’s launch event for Mert and Marcus’s BOSS ONE x David Beckham short film.

immersive-me worked with events agency My Beautiful City to deliver screen visuals for the launch of a new short film directed by fashion veterans Mert and Marcus for BOSS ONE starring David Beckham. At London’s Lightroom venue, MBC tasked immersive-me with developing a sophisticated set of visuals to match the premium nature of the event’s guest list, which included A-list celebrities as well as DJs Mark Ronson and Honey Dijon, whose surprise performances soundtracked the afterparty.

Using Lightroom’s full 360 degrees of screens for their projections, the immersive-me team designed an audio-reactive environment echoing the film’s NYC apartment-block setting. The creative team used light spilling through “windows” and curtain-shrouded silhouettes to envelop attendees.

immersive-me’s Bertie Sampson explains, “As many of the attendees were essentially on the clock creating content, our goal was to make as relaxing a space as possible to act as a counterweight to all the excitement.” The chilled-out atmosphere slowly built into a “hype moment” combining music produced by the immersive-me team and real-time visuals, achieved with Notch, to commence the screening.

The team used Notch 1.0 for creation, iteration, and previz. They also used TouchDesigner to run the Notch Blocks in real time, Unreal Engine for additional pre-rendered scenes, and VDMX as an interface across four 4K walls and a full-HD floor. Wielding their own custom media servers to allow for a high real-time frame rate at such a high resolution, immersive-me could easily craft a rich, refined space that evolved through the night.

Notch 1.0 was the perfect tool for pushing out clean, audio-reactive visuals at the high resolution and frame rate necessary for big, immersive spaces like this.
