Case Study

ARENA OF GLORY SPRING 2026

MxC used a hybrid workflow rooted in Notch to achieve vibrant 3D projection mapping for the 20th season of Arena of Glory.

When Garena Vietnam recruited MxC Creative Studio to head up visuals for the 20th season of the Arena of Glory esports event, held in Quang Ninh, Vietnam, the studio knew it would need to deliver something iconic to mark the milestone. For the opening ceremony, the brief called for translating a 650-square metre projection area, where content needed to align perfectly with real-world props, into a space where performance technology, visual arts, and community emotions came together. For that, the studio turned to Notch for a fluid, cohesive workflow.

The stakes were higher than in past years. Previous seasons ran a straightforward LED stage; this one demanded full 3D projection mapping across the largest stage with integrated 3D-mapping technology in Vietnam, complete with three livestream screens. That meant aligning content precisely with physical props on tight deadlines for the most important segment of the show.

MxC began by planning projection geometry in Cinema 4D, then building a full previsualisation in Notch that served as their blueprint through to delivery, pulling in Blender, After Effects, EmberGen, and Substance Painter along the way for animation, compositing, simulation, and material detail. The team found two of the newer Notch features particularly helpful: VDB, for importing volumetric fog and smoke simulations, and Fields, for fire. For MxC, the appeal wasn't just the visual result but the workflow it enabled, bringing VDB volumetric data from EmberGen into Notch to build fire, fog, and smoke effects.

I’ve been using Notch for about six years now, and everything has developed at light speed. The current version is as stable as ever, which was especially helpful on a project as unique and unpredictable as this.

MxC delivered the finished stage in about thirty days from start to finish. At roughly 650 square metres of projection, it stands as the largest integrated 3D-mapping esports stage built in Vietnam to date.
